The Higher Gains of Higher Quality

We live in a consumer culture and it can be easy to get caught up in looking for the lowest price point possible. The old adages of, “You get what you pay for…”, and “If you’re going to do something, do it right”, didn’t come to exist for no reason. While these expressions don’t always ring true, they certainly seem applicable in the business of custom apparel.

Spending a third more on a t shirt order just to get a different material makeup, brand, or cut can seem overbearing. However, the value in doing so will far outweigh the upfront spike in cost. Let’s look at it from a few different viewpoints.

If you’re using custom apparel as a form of advertising it is really tempting to get the most bang for your buck by ordering a higher quantity of cheap shirts. This tactic will backfire long term. If you hand out a shirt that’s worthless people will treat it as such. They will wear it once or twice then relegate it to be cut up into rags, or worn only when they change their oil or mow the lawn. But, if you give them something softer, lighter, longer lasting, and better fitting than all the other junk in their closet; they will feel good wearing it. If you that extra bit of cheddar for nicer stuff you will have more people wearing your brand for a longer period of time, and that is far more valuable than the quick flash in the pan that cheaper garments can provide.

If you are trying to promote the image of brand or your business you also need to think about getting a nicer garment. The apparel that you sell or send out into the world is an extension of what you are already doing. Your image and reputation is on the line with everything that you put your name on and your followers will pass judgement on your entity as a whole by the quality of the apparel you produce. It pays off to spend a little extra to make sure it looks sharp and feels great.

If you’re in the business of selling custom apparel, then you more than anyone else need to make sure you are putting out high quality work. Your whole revenue stream is dependent on repeat purchasers. If you put out ill fitting, uncomfortable, and short lived apparel to increase your profit margin you will lose out on future sales. People will pay for quality, but you have to deliver, so do yourself a favor and put up the higher investment.

Do your-self a favor and next time you think about putting together a custom apparel, get something real nice.
